In Developement

Barbican Entertainment: A diverse slate of projects, from concept to screen. Explore our films in development, some funded, some shooting, all compelling.

Darkside Wood is a horror that interweaves sci-fi, mythology and the paranormal. Set in Essex in 1987 – and inspired by cult-classics of that era – we find our unsuspecting characters at a crossroads where parallel realities converge and nightmarish terrors reside!

Creepy, cinematic, rooted in character and immersed in the unknown, Darkside Wood is a fellowtraveller alongside Hellraiser, An American Werewolf in London, and Xtro, whilst echoing the chills of Friday the 13 th – a fusion of tense macabre drama, atmospheric frights, and the surreal.

The Rendlesham Encounters is a deep dive into Britain’s most infamous UFO incident; a case involving landed craft of unknown origin, the US Air Force, nuclear weapons, and a high level cover- up. Far exceeding the ‘three nights of close encounters’ in Rendlesham forest – explored in numerous
documentaries – this is a journey into the farthest reaches of the matter to uncover a complete tapestry of what actually occurred in December 1980…and why!

In a forested wetland enclave of rural Suffolk dotted with hamlets and bordered by rugged coastline, a jigsaw of events unfolds between the 1920s and mid-80s… plagued by centuries of spectral hauntings, poltergeist activity, cryptid creature encounters, decades of UFO sightings, and inexplicable outbreaks of freak human behaviour, the locality, containing sacred burial grounds and pagan worship sites, had been the royal seat of the pre-Christian East Angle dynasty in ancient times… further encompassing a max security nuclear-armed US airbase adjacent to Rendlesham Forest with self-sufficient ‘American town’ for families cocooned within, and, the Orford Ness facility, a top secret atomic weapons research site and experimental radar station isolated on a vast area of wilderness – the region is one
cloaked in absolute mystery, legend and intrigue!

The Rendlesham Encounters will be a 3 hour drama-documentary, played out over three 60 minute episodes in the all-engaging format of eyewitness narration-interviews combined with scripted cinema quality drama reconstructions, made for broadcast and major streaming services worldwide.

Dick Turpin: Thief, Outlaw, Legend will be made as an eight-part mini-series consisting of 60 minute episodes, for broadcast and streaming services worldwide.

Dick Turpin: Thief, Outlaw, Legend is an eight hour action-crime epic that follows the gripping and violent saga of the eighteenth-century ‘public enemy’ – told in its entirety for the very first time!
With period authenticity and the truths of Turpin’s life story at its core, our narrative roller-coasters between high adventure, underworld drama and gritty biopic, and whilst character-driven also recounting the iconic thief-takers, bounty hunters, highwaymen and smugglers who shared his
journey, it is equally a story about England in the 1730s – a society transitioning from old world to modern age, of law, order, corruption and politics – as it is about the wild desperado himself.

Dick Turpin: Thief, Outlaw, Legend will be made as an eight-part mini-series consisting of 60 minuteepisodes, for broadcast and streaming services worldwide.
